How to choose a rhinoplasty instrument set

  • Complete kit or named set. A complete rhinoplasty kit covers bone, septum, tip and closure; a surgeon-named set follows that surgeon's instrument choice.
  • Structural or preservation. Most sets cut and rasp the dorsum; the preservation set holds the saws that free the bony pyramid so the dorsum can be lowered without removing it.
  • Grafts. Sets with a block, crusher and grid prepare cartilage grafts; the rib harvest set holds the harvest instruments only.
  • Contents. Compare each contents table with your own count sheet; the piece count is computed from that list.
  • Add singles. Single osteotomes, rasps and nasal forceps are in Rhinoplasty Instruments.

What are rhinoplasty sets used for?

  • Bony vault: osteotomies, dorsal hump reduction and smoothing the nasal bones with saws, osteotomes, a mallet and rasps.
  • Septum: lifting the septal lining and removing or straightening septal cartilage and bone in septorhinoplasty.
  • Tip and grafts: shaping the alar cartilages, and crushing and sizing septal, ear or rib cartilage grafts.
  • Exposure and closure: hooks, retractors, scissors and fine needle holders.

How BusinessMed surgery sets are made
