Otoscopes in this category
What is an otoscope?
An otoscope for ear examination combines a light, a magnifying lens and a cone-shaped tip that enters the ear canal. Its sibling, the ophthalmoscope, looks like it but has focusing lenses for the eye instead — see Ophthalmoscopes, and Otoscope and Ophthalmoscope Sets for both in one case.
What are otoscopes used for?
Examining the ear canal and the eardrum — the otoscope eardrum view shows ear infections, earwax, foreign objects and damage such as a perforated eardrum. Impacted earwax blocks the eardrum otoscope view and has to be cleared first.
