Warranty and Services
Last updated: 4 November 2026
We manufacture our instruments from German stainless steel and inspect every piece before dispatch. We back them with a manufacturer's warranty and offer repair, re-sharpening and customisation services for their whole working life.
Warranty at a glance
| Product | Warranty period (from delivery) |
|---|---|
| Reusable stainless-steel instruments: surgical, plastic surgery, dental, orthodontic, ENT, hair transplant, liposuction cannulas and handles, electrosurgical forceps, laryngoscope blades and handles | 5 years |
| Instrument kits and surgery sets (all reusable steel parts) | 5 years |
| Electrosurgical (bipolar/monopolar) cables, fibre-optic light cables, light sources | 1 year |
| Plastic, silicone and other non-metal products and parts | 1 year |
| Single-use and disposable items | no extended warranty (covered against arrival defects) |
The warranty covers the original buyer and is valid with proof of purchase (order number or invoice).
Consumers: this warranty is given in addition to your statutory rights, which it does not limit. In the EU you are entitled to a legal guarantee of conformity of at least 2 years from delivery. In the UK you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
What is covered
Defects in material or workmanship that appear under normal professional use, reprocessing and sterilisation in line with our Instructions for Use, for example:
- breakage, cracks or failure of joints, box locks, ratchets or springs;
- corrosion or pitting of the steel that is not caused by improper reprocessing;
- loosening or detachment of tungsten carbide (TC) inserts;
- jaws or blades that do not meet, or misalignment not caused by misuse;
- for cables and light sources: electrical or optical failure under normal use.
What is not covered
- Normal wear and tear, including the dulling of cutting edges and scissor blades with use (see re-sharpening below).
- Damage from misuse, dropping, overloading, or using an instrument for a purpose it was not designed for (e.g., cutting wire with tissue scissors).
- Damage caused by reprocessing that is not in line with our Instructions for Use: saline or chlorine exposure, unsuitable detergents, mixing with damaged or corroded instruments, or exceeding sterilisation temperatures.
- Instruments repaired, sharpened, re-plated or modified by anyone other than BusinessMed Instruments or a partner we authorise.
- Laser markings or engravings added by third parties.
- Cosmetic marks that do not affect function.
- Single-use items after use.
What we do
If a claim is approved, we will, at our choice, repair the instrument, replace it with a new certified instrument, or give a credit or refund if repair or replacement is not possible. A repaired or replaced instrument is covered for the rest of the original warranty period, or 6 months, whichever is longer. For approved claims, we pay the shipping both ways.
How to make a warranty claim
- Send the details: email [email protected], or use live chat, with your order number, the product name/SKU, a description of the problem and clear photos.
- Assessment: our quality team reviews the claim within 1 business day. Often, photos are enough to approve a replacement straight away.
- RMA and return: if we need to see the instrument, we issue an RMA number and a prepaid label. Clean and sterilise the instrument before you send it (see Returns Policy).
- Resolution: we inspect the instrument within 5 business days of arrival and repair, replace or credit it. A short inspection report is included.
Services
Repair and re-sharpening
Scissors, knives, chisels, osteotomes, rongeurs, curettes and scalers lose their edge with use. We re-sharpen, re-align, re-tension and re-polish instruments. The price depends on the condition of each instrument; we confirm it after inspection, before any work starts. Tungsten carbide (TC) inserts in needle holders, scissors and forceps can only be replaced in our factory workshop, by specialist technicians. We can do this on request, but a new instrument is often the more economical choice; we advise you after inspection. Repaired instruments are inspected and passivated before they are returned.
