Dental Wax Spatulas

BusinessMed® Dental Wax Spatulas mix and handle wax and other dental materials on small, flat, blunt blades, usually double-ended. The numbered patterns pair a carrying or spoon end with a shaping blade: No. 7 and the larger 7A, No. 31 with a spear-shaped point, the long No. 5, and a resilient spatula for spreading.

Types of dental wax spatulas

  • No. 7 wax spatula — a spoon end for adding and carrying wax and a pointed blade for shaping, on an octagonal handle.
  • No. 7A wax spatula — the same layout with a larger blade, for broader wax work.
  • No. 31 wax spatula — a curved end for carrying and laying wax and a spear-shaped point for precise application and trimming.
  • No. 5 wax spatula — a flat handle and long body for blending on the slab and general wax modeling.
  • Resilient double-ended wax spatula — a flexible end for spreading wax and soft materials thin and a pointed end for detail.

How to choose a dental spatula

  • Carry or shape. Spoon and curved ends carry and add wax; pointed and spear-shaped ends shape and trim.
  • Area of work. 7A and No. 5 for broader areas and the slab; No. 7 and No. 31 for detail.
  • Stiff or flexible. The resilient spatula spreads material thin.

What are dental spatulas used for?

Adding and carrying wax for patterns, bite rims and denture setups; mixing wax and other laboratory materials; and shaping and trimming wax contours — the spatula wax work of the dental laboratory.
