Neurosurgery Sets

BusinessMed® Neurosurgery Sets group the neurosurgery instruments of one brain or spine operation in a single order: wire saws, bone forceps and rongeurs, dural scissors, brain spatulas, tumor forceps, Kerrison punches and micro dissectors. The range covers cranial and craniotomy sets, two spinal sets and a Rhoton micro dissector set; every set page lists its instruments.

Cranial sets

Spinal sets

  • Spinal neurosurgery set — a neurosurgery instruments set for the spine with Caspar rongeurs, an exploration hook, bone curettes and Fergusson suction; 22 pieces.
  • Spinal surgery instrument set — a Caspar retractor, Kerrison punches and Echlin and Ruskin rongeurs; 10 pieces.

How to choose a neurosurgery instrument set

  • Brain or spine. Cranial sets carry saws, bone forceps, dural scissors and brain spatulas; the spinal sets carry rongeurs, Kerrison punches and curettes for decompression.
  • Open or microsurgical. The Rhoton set holds the fine neurosurgical instruments used under the microscope; it adds to a cranial set rather than replacing it.
  • Contents. Compare each set page's instrument list with your own count sheet.

What are neurosurgery sets used for?

  • Craniotomy: opening the scalp, cutting and lifting the bone flap, opening the dura, and closing the layers.
  • Brain tumor and vascular surgery: retracting the brain with spatulas, removing and handling tissue, and microdissection around aneurysms and tumors such as acoustic neuromas.
  • Spinal decompression: laminectomy, laminotomy and foraminotomy, removing bone and ligament that press on the spinal cord or nerve roots, and discectomy.

How BusinessMed surgery sets are made

The instruments in each set are German stainless steel, reusable and autoclavable, with a 5-year warranty; titanium instruments and any case are named on the set page.
