Rubber Dam Frames

BusinessMed® Rubber Dam Frames hold the rubber dam sheet outside the mouth once it is in place, so the lips and cheeks are held back, the dam does not drift into the field and the tooth being treated stays in clear view. The frame is the last of the four rubber dam instruments, after the punch, the clamp and the clamp forceps.

How a dental dam frame works

The classic pattern, Young's frame, is U-shaped; the dam is stretched over it and hooked on small retainers along its length, centered on the frame. Metal frames can obscure structures on a radiograph and are taken off before an X-ray is made; plastic frames are the radiolucent alternative. See our rubber dam frame.

What goes with a rubber dam frame

  • A rubber dam punch to make one hole per tooth.
  • Rubber Dam Clamps to anchor the dam on the tooth.
  • Clamp forceps to place and remove the clamp, in the same category as the punch.

What are rubber dam frames used for?

Rubber dam isolation in restorative and endodontic treatment: a dental rubber dam frame keeps the sheet taut around the isolated teeth for the length of the procedure.
