Ophthalmic Sets

BusinessMed® Ophthalmic Sets group the ophthalmology instruments of one eye procedure in a single order: lid specula, fixation and tying forceps, Castroviejo scissors and needle holders, chalazion clamps and curettes, and calipers. The range covers cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, chalazion and lid-conjunctiva sets, a six-piece eye microsurgery set and an optometrist office set.

How to choose an ophthalmic set

  • Procedure. Each set is built around one operation; the name says which.
  • Theater or office. The optometrist office set covers minor in-office procedures; the others are operating-room sets.
  • Contents. Compare each set page's contents table with your own count sheet. Single ophthalmology instrument patterns are listed on each set page.

What are ophthalmic sets used for?

  • Cataract surgery: limbal incision, capsule opening, nucleus expression or lens delivery, lens implant placement and corneoscleral wound closure with fine sutures.
  • Glaucoma surgery: trabeculectomy, a scleral flap and drainage opening with a peripheral iridectomy.
  • Pterygium excision: removing the growth and suturing a conjunctival autograft over the bare sclera.
  • Lid surgery: chalazion incision and curettage, ptosis repair, entropion and ectropion correction.
  • Office procedures: foreign body removal, lash and suture removal, and tear duct dilation and irrigation.

How BusinessMed surgery sets are made

The instruments in each set are German stainless steel, reusable and autoclavable, with a 5-year warranty; any non-steel part or case is named on the set page.
