BusinessMed® Heaney Needle Holder is named after Noble Sproat Heaney, MD, the American gynecologist whose name is also carried by the Heaney clamp and Heaney retractor. The curve of the jaws lets the surgeon approach tissue at an angle and keep the needle tip in view, which is why the Heaney pattern is a standard needle holder for hysterectomy.

Tungsten carbide inserts: the cross-serrations hold the needle without rotating, and the carbide faces resist wear far longer than plain stainless steel jaws.
Locking ratchet: keeps the jaws closed on the needle without constant hand pressure between passes.
